Alex Turner – It's Hard To Get Around The Wind

A short EP soundtrack to my favorite movie from Sundance, “Submarine” is comprised of 5 songs (and an instrumental) from Arctic Monkeys singer Alex Turner. I was never a big Arctic Monkeys fan but these quiet acoustic ballads are miles away from his band’s usual sound. Though they’re completely out of place with the films 1980s setting the songs give the story a good texture reminiscent of Cat Stevens in “Harold & Maude” or Simon & Garfunkel in “The Graduate.” Which I’m sure is exactly what they were going for. The EP is out now and the film will be out June 3rd.
