Being Elmo review
Though I grew up on “Sesame Street” and The Muppets (I’m pretty sure seeing “Muppets Take Manhattan” at 3 planted the seed early for wanting to live in NYC), Elmo was definitely after my time. So I’m not sure “Being Elmo: A Puppeteers Journey” would have really came across my radar had it not been one of the most buzzed about docs at Sundance this year. But after I missed it at the fest I kept it on my radar and had a chance to check it out last week as part of the IFC Center’s DocuWeeks series. The doc is a true crowdpleaser, the touching, inspirational story of Kevin Clash who grew up as a poor kid in Baltimore and wanted to be a puppeteer.
